How to Get Rid of Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common side-effects of living in our
world today. We are bombarded with so much information on a daily basis
that we simply can't handle it all. From newspapers to TV to Radio and
the Internet, we face a daily FLOOD of chaotic information. Then mix in
the personal things we have to deal with like Jobs, School, Relationships, Finances,
Illnesses and a slew of other "everyday" issues, it's amazing that
everyone doesn't have Anxiety.
So how is it that one person can suffer from anxiety while someone
else is unaffected by it? It's really just a matter of perspective.
Two different people can experience the exact same thing, one experiences
anxiety while the other just coasts right though it with no negative effects whatsoever.
How is this possible?
I have a poster on my office wall that reads: "The
Problem is not the problem. How
you're Thinking about the problem - that's the
problem." It's all about one's perspective. Anxiety is caused by our thoughts... not by
something external. Every feeling we have begins with a thought.
Thoughts cause feelings. So if you want to change the way you feel,
you have to change the thought that's causing the feeling. This is how to
get rid of anxiety.
Now I know many of you are asking, “How do I change what I’m
thinking?” It’s not difficult, here’s an
example: Think about something you did
yesterday. Got it? Now think about something you want to do
today. Congratulations, you just changed
your thoughts! It really is that easy.
So if you now think about something that causes you to feel
anxious, change that thought to something else and see what happens to the way
you feel. Go ahead... try it. Remember, all feelings begin with a
thought. All thoughts cause
feelings. It’s just as easy to think
about something that makes you feel good as it does to think about something
that makes you feel anxious. It requires
no hard work, no medications, and it works.
